Brock Student heads overseas to attend and observe the "Chinese Bridge" Final Competition
Amanda McMillan, a Brock University Linguistics Department student who
participated in the Preliminary Contest for the 11th International
Chinese Bridge held in late March 2012 at the Confucius Institute at
Brock University, has been selected by the Toronto Chinese
Consulate-General Education Office to attend and observe the upcoming
World Finals of this prestigious international competition in Chinese
language and culture that will take place in the city of Changsha,
Hunan province of the People's Republic of China from July 9 to July
17, 2012. It is quite an honour for Ms. McMillan as one of only 2
university student representatives to attend from Ontario, with all
related travel expenses covered by the Chinese Bridge Organizing
Committee. She will be the first Brock University student to attend
this major event.
Chinese Bridge is a large-scale international competition organized
by the Chinese Language Council International to evaluate Chinese
language and cultural learning by university students all over the
world. Contestants are evaluated in three modes: Q & A on Chinese
language and culture; a speech presentation; and a demonstration of
a Chinese cultural and artistic talent.
