Convocation will have Sexsmith hitting some high notes

When Ron Sexsmith receives his honorary degree on Tuesday morning at Brock University, odds are he’ll respond not with a speech, but with what he does best — performing music.
There are reports that the multiple Juno-award-winning artist will perform songs live on stage after receiving his honorary doctorate during the Faculty of Humanities ceremony, which starts at 10 am.
In fact the St Catharines native added fuel to that expectation on Monday when he sent out a caricature of himself wearing a cap and gown — and playing the guitar. “This will be me tomorrow RS,” he Tweeted with the image.
Sexsmith is one of three VIPs to receive honorary doctorate degrees in this spring convocation. Leo. W. Gerard, International President of the United Steelworkers, will be recognized at 10 am on Thursday June 5, while Sir Hillary Beckles, Principal and Vice-Chancellor at the University of the West Indies, receives his honour at 2 pm on the same day. Both ceremonies are for the Faculty of Social Sciences.
