Economist Awarded Grant to Study Security Analysts and Their Recommendations

Published on March 24 2014

Dr. Ivan Medovikov (ECON) was recently awarded a Council for Research in the Social Sciences (CRISS) research grant to study the relationship between security analysts' recommendations and subsequent price performance in an attempt to learn whether analysts can predict price performance of certain stocks.  This study is important because there is currently conflicting evidence about whether investors can profit from the recommendations that are made by the analysts.  Accirdubg to Dr. Medovikov, he will attempt to determine "under which circumstances can public stock recommendations provide value to independent investors".  Please contact Dr. Medovikov for details regarding this project.
