Raspberry Pi® in Production at the Gibson Library

Now here’s an inventive and frugal approach to digital signage.

Tim Ribaric, Digital Services Librarian crafted this Equipment Availability screen from an old monitor, some Python code and a $40 credit card sized computer – the Raspberry Pi®

Laptops, phone chargers and cables are some of the heaviest circulated items in the library and users often want to know when items will be returned. This monitor fits the bill – refreshing every 2.5 seconds.

Here’s to ingenuity, code and maker culture!
