Five Teams Compete in the Finals of the Nicol Competition at Brock University

The Second (and final) round of the Nicol Competition at Brock University will take place on Thursday, February 27th, 2014.

Finalists comprise five teams who have been invited to make a Business Plan Presentation. Finalists, in alphabetical order, according to Business name, are as follows:

Impressive Inking: Dave Martin and Johnny Hutton

Kangaroo Hop Inflatables: Ian Poulin

Med Scan Today: Jake Fraser

Natural Journey’s: Melanie Smith

Refaced: Harrison Olajos

The Nicol Award is a national program designed to generate and reward interest in entrepreneurship on the part of undergraduate students in any faculty or field of study at participating universities across Canada. Launched in 1997, this program now awards over $100,000 in prize money each year to individual students or student teams who submit winning plans for their entrepreneurial business ideas.

The winning Brock team will receive a $5,000 cash prize, the second place team receives $2,000 and the third place team, $1,000.

In 2012, the winning team from Brock University, David D’Angelo’s “Trivium Industries” was one of six teams invited to compete in The National Nicol Competition. David is currently launching his business in Niagara.
