Dr. Jack Lightstone to teach new on-line course for Classics on ancient Judaisms in winter 2014

The Department of Classics is excited to announce that Dr. Lightstone, president of Brock Unversity and noted scholar of ancient Judaism, will teach CLAS 2P60 in the winter term. This on-line course will include video lectures, readings and engaging forum discussions on Isaak/Sakai. Ancient Judaisms and Judaic Societies from Cyrus to Mohammed (CLAS 2P60) will provide participants with an opportunity to learn about the cultural, social and political development of the various Judaic religious communties which existed within the wider framework of the Classical world. Topics include Judaism in Greco-Roman communities, the emergence of rabbinic literature, the Dead Sea scrolls, the Qumran community and early messianism. For more information, please contact the Department of Classics.
