At the annual conference of the National Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals in Kissimmee Flordia, Shari Sekel (MAcc '01, BAcc '99) was presented with the Building Bridges Award. This Award is presented to an organization or individual who champions the issues of access and equity in making graduate education available.
Sekel was honored for initiating the establishment of CAGAP, the Canadian Chapter of NAGAP, laying the framework for advancing the profession of graduate enrollment management in Canada. She, along with her colleagues, demonstrated a commitment to the successful international expansion of NAGAP by connecting Canadian universities and international graduate enrollment management professionals with NAGAP. When Sekel returned to Brock as an employee in 2000, the Goodman School of Business had two graduate programs and 30 students. Sekel was the only staff member. Today, Goodman offers seven graduate and pre-graduate programs, has more than 500 students and has a team of talented and enthusiastic team members under Sekel’s leadership as Director of Graduate Programs.
