The presentation will be lead by Dr. Caroline Fusco from the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on the geography of biopedagogies.
Her talk is titled:
“This feels like a punishment to them, going to a gym and doing exercises . . . I would say they are lazy or maybe they are not mentally proper or something . . .” Considering the biopedagogies of sport and play and the reproduction of entrepreneurial subjectivity.
She traces how youth’s (health) subjectivities are cultivated and performed in spaces of play and physical culture.
Her research theories draw on sociology and cultural geographies, poststructuralist and feminist theories of the body, gender and sexuality, social justice, and qualitative research methodologies.
