National Autonomous University of Honduras - Agreement Signing and Project Closing
Published on December 13 2012
Dr. Gary Libben, Vice-President of Research, Dr. Ana Sanchez, Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences, and Sheila Young, Director of Brock International, travelled to Honduras for a December 3rd special ceremony at Brock's partner institution, the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH).
Dr. Sanchez - who has been collaborating with colleagues at UNAH since 2002 - and her research team, including co-investigators at UNAH, Lourdes Enriquez de Madrid and Maritza Canales (Department of Microbiology), were awarded a Teasdale-Corti Team Grant valued at $1.5 million. This Brock-UNAH Grant was one of only 14 research projects awarded by the Global Health Research Initiative (GHRI).
The December 3rd ceremony celebrated the closing of the successful Teasdale-Corti Project. Dr. Libben and UNAH Rectora, Julieta Castellanos, also used the ceremony as an opportunity to sign a renewal of the Brock-UNAH institutional agreement.
