Recreation and Leisure grad to cycle across Canada to raise awareness for preventative medicine

Published on August 08 2012

With 7000km of Canadian landscape to cover, Debbie Ray and her husband, Carlin Val started the non-for-profit organization Cycle 2 Save.

Debbie Ray graduated from Recreation and Leisure Studies with first class standing in June 2008.

Her concentration in Outdoor Recreation led her to Lakehead University where she was accepted to study in the Outdoor Ecological and Experiential Education program, this program paved the way for her current position as a Secondary School teacher in Ontario.

The cross-country journey is a way to raise awareness for “preventative medicine”, proper nutrition and daily physical activity to help prevent obesity, chronic diseases, and mental illness.

You can follow their journey at Cycle 2 Save.
