What is Inside the StoryBox?

Published on October 17 2011

The StoryBox is a digital time capsule that has traveled with Alan Levine on a road trip around North America, over 10,000 miles since late June 2011. On Friday at 2pm, Alan and the StoryBox will be at Brock University, TH253 (e-classroom) and you're invited!
An instance of the PirateBox developed by NYU professor David Darts., it embraces open source technology and open content philosophy as a way to turn any public space into a free, anonymous content sharing region. Over 700 photo, video, audio, and other files have been collected on (in?) the storybox, which makes for an interesting discussion of what the media means when it lacks any context. We will explore what ways the media and this device can be used as a platform for digital storytelling in an open environment.
Bring your own media to share. The interactive part will be a challenge to create a remix or new content based on what is stored on it already. What story can you tell?
