Fifty-five Brock Business students travelled to Toronto to compete in the DECA U Provincial Competition.  With over 900 students competing from 16 schools, Brock brought home 9 medals – the schools best showing at the Provincial’s since the chapter was started four years ago.

The competition consisted of Business Simulations and Case Study events.  Business Simulations were judged via a written test and oral presentations.  Case Studies were judged on a written test, oral presentation and one Master Case round.

Coming home with medals were:

Nick Rose – 1st place in presentation and 2nd overall for Sports and Entertainment.

Erin Gurr – 1st place in written event for Human Resources.

Andrea Figueira – 1st place in presentation for Human Resources.

Nick Chrzan & Sheharyar Khan – 2nd overall in International Business.

Jaminy Ulaganathan – 3rd place in presentation for Finance.

Max Marchuk – 3rd place in presentation for Financial Services.

Mike Holmes – 3rd place in presentation for Marketing and Sales.

Students participate in DECA U’s programs through their university.  Through conferences, business simulations, and other networking events, DECA U brings together the brightest students from all major Canadian universities and give them the opportunity to compete, network and learn from each other.

“Student’s leave the competition with increased self-confidence knowing they competed in real-world situations against other school’s top talent and were judged by industry professionals,” said Brock’s chapter President, Nick Chrzan. “The networking aspect of the weekend was phenomenal as well, with students interacting with not only dozens of potential employers but also with leaders in business associations from other schools.”
