City of Hamilton Orthophotos

Description/Use
Digital aerial photography has been developed for the City of Hamilton for 1999 and 2005. Orthophotos are digitally georeferenced for use with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Typically, these images are used in land use planning, image analysis, highway route selection, land survey research, population and diversity studies, utilities evaluations and parking and environmental investigations. The imagery can also be used as a base on which vector data can be overlayed.

Use Restrictions/Copyright
The data is licenced to Brock University faculty, staff and students for teaching and research purposes only. A license agreement must be signed before the files will be delivered. The data is under copyright by the City of Hamilton. Viewing and printing of the digital airphotos is open to the general public.

Accessing the Data
Images are accessed using an ArcGIS predefined template. On the public workstation, run ArcGIS; open the template for the year of interest found in the corresponding folder under M:\Aerial_Photography\ then add the required tiles. A tutorial is availabe for accessing orthophotos. Please ask Map Library staff for assistance.
