Creating a URL-Driven Zoomify Web Page
This procedure outlines steps to create a zoomified image and display it on the web using URL-Driven commands. It assumes the user has Zoomifyer for Flash installed on the local PC. The required files can be found in the software folder called “/Designer Tools/URL-Driven Web Page/”. Visit http://www.zoomify.com for download or purchasing details. Zoomifyer EZ plus sample files may be downloaded HERE.
Files needed:
- zoomifyURLDrivenWebPage.htm (provided with Zoomifyer Flash; contains the details for calling the flash viewer; may be renamed to suit your project but remember to change the name in the URL path as well); may be customized with banners, menus, links etc.
- ZoomifyDynamicViewer.swf (this is the actual movie file used to view the image with Zoomify)
- An original high-resolution image that will be converted to Zoomify compatible jpegs (the resulting folder should be in the same directory as the above files)
- HTML project page with the URL link to the Zoomify page.
Converting the high-resolution image to Zoomified JPEGs
- Open “My Computer”, navigate to TIFF image and drag the image onto the Zoomify Converter.

- Zoomify automatically creates a new folder containing the original image converted to wee JPEGs that are tiled and tiered in varying resolutions. This folder is automatically created in the same directory as the original TIFF and should not be altered in any way.
- Copy “zoomifyURLDrivenWebPage.htm” to the same directory as the image folder.
- Copy “ZoomifyDynamicViewer.swf” to the same directory.
- Create html link from your project’s html page using
the following format:
http://www.brocku.ca/maplibrary/zoomproject/zoomifyURLDrivenWebPage.htm?zoomifyImagePath=http://www.brocku.ca/maplibrary/zoomproject/images/NMC-22145/& zoomifyZoom=-1&zoomifyToolbar=1&zoomifyNavWin=1
where the http path describes the path to zoomifyURLDrivenWebPage.htm
and the zoomifyImagePath describes the path to the folder containing the wee jpegs created by Zoomify (this is the part that will be customized for each image to be viewed using Zoomify)
the details after the “&” tell the Zoomify viewer how to display the image. These can be customized according to your needs. For additional details, see “/Designer Tools/zoomwebpages.doc”.
- Upload to the server the directory holding all of the above folders/files except the original high-resolution image. This file can be saved on the local hard drive for future reference if necessary.
