In celebration of Geography Awareness Week, the Map Library hosted its annual GIS Day, Thursday, November 15th, in partner with the Department of Geography, the Environmental Sustainability Research Centre (ESRC) and the Library's Data Research Service.
The Map Library was the place to be on Thursday as it was packed with GIS fanatics. The room was host to a pizza lunch, a delicious GIS cake and other goodies, trivia, lots of door prizes, hands-on GIS workshops included Mapping with FRED and Evelyn, Intro to GIS, and was topped off with a healthy round of GIS Jeopardy! The 2013 Esri Scholarship Competition took place over the lunch hour with six students vying for the scholarship. Brendan Spearin, the recipient of the 2012 scholarship, also presented his GIS project.
