What should I bring to LEAP?
All LEAP participants will be provided with a single room with a four-piece washroom shared between two students of the same gender. Each guestroom is provided with a towel, face cloth, bed linen, pillow, soap and a plastic drinking cup. We suggest you bring an extra pillow and towel (if desired), tolietries, and an alarm clock.
Wear comfortable clothing, as most of your day will be spent in interactive sessions. Casual dress is also suitable for the downtown St. Catharines dinner. With a program as jam packed as ours, we don't always have a chance to change before dinner. A change of clothes for the community project is also suggested as some projects involve helping with active tasks such as gardening and preparing lunch.
What meals and accomodation are included in my fee?
The LEAP registration fee includes: all program materials, an overnight stay in residence, and 3 meals (breakfast, lunch, and a dinner in downtown St. Catharines).
Who are the campus partners of LEAP?
LEAP is brought to you by Career Services and the Mentorship Plus Program, Leadership Development Services, Smart Start, Learning Skills Services and Student Life & Community Experience.
Is the schedule different for each LEAP day?
There are some slight differences in the program schedule over the four LEAP sessions, but all participants receive the same engaging workshops, exciting activities and outreach opportunities.
What do I register for first? Smart Start or LEAP?
We recommend you choose your LEAP date and then register for the corresponding Smart Start day. If you have any problems or questions about how to register for dates that work for you, please contact us.
Can I register for LEAP only?
You are able to attend LEAP without registering for Smart Start, but we highly recommend that you attend both.
Where will my community service project be?
The community service projects will take place around the area. In the past, we have worked with the Resource Association for Teens (RAFT), local community gardens, and Start Me Up Niagara. Projects are determined by the availablity of the community partner and day of project.
