Profile

The University of Pretoria is the leading research university in South Africa and one of the largest in the country. The University has nine faculties and a business school, whereby the academic programs are offered in the two of the official languages, Afrikaans and English. It was established in 1908 as the Pretoria Centre of the Transvaal University College and it became the University of Pretoria in 1930. The University is comprised of six campuses, but the main campus is located in Pretoria. The student population is a little over 57,000, with 38,934 contact and 18,475 distance students.

The first semester (Brock’s Fall Term) starts in late-January and ends in late June.
The second semester (Brock’s Winter Term) starts in mid-July and ends in mid-December.
