Exchange Requirements

Exchange Requirements

Applications for the Brock Student Exchange Program are now open!  If you are interested in participating for one academic term (Fall 2016 or Winter 2017) or for the full academic year, now is the time to apply!  To be considered in the first round of placements, please submit your application on later than 4:30pm on Friday, January 8, 2016.

Please read the following instructions carefully to ensure that you submit your application properly.

Partner School Selection
The application will ask you to list your top 3 exchange partner choices.  You do not have to list 3 choices, however, by providing us with 3, we will do our best to place you at one of them.

Have you put ISEP or ORA as your first choice?  If yes, it is acceptable to list this as your first, and only, choice.  Please still complete the Course Research Section to highlight your top 3 choices within either Consortium.

If you list less than 3 choices, there is a chance your placement could be delayed if we need to reach out to you to collect alternative placement options.

If you are interested in a dual placement, you will be required to rank 3 choices for both the Fall and Winter terms.  You will need to complete the Course Research Section for each term.

Academic Reference
You must obtain 1 Academic Reference.

The reference must be from a Brock Professor who has taught you (currently or in the past) during your time at Brock; references cannot be received from Teaching Assistants, Coaches, Employers or Academic Advisors.  Your Professor may send the reference directly to us, or give it to you in a sealed envelope.  References in sealed envelopes may be dropped off in International Services (IC, 208).

A completed application consists of the following:

  • Outbound Exchange Application (note: you will need to open with a PDF viewer to fill out the application)
  • Academic Reference
  • A minimum 70% average
  • Scanned copy of your Brock student ID card
  • $35 application fee

All students who meet the application requirements will be interviewed by the exchange committee.

Students typically apply in their second year and spend their third year of their undergraduate program abroad. However, it is possible to go on exchange for the first semester of your fourth year but students must return to Brock for at least one semester before graduating in order to complete their degree.

On completion of your degree, having an exchange experience on your CV/resume will be attractive to employers; discovering a different culture, travelling, making new friends and learning a foreign language will foster your maturity, confidence, and self-reliance.

Contrary to popular belief, another language is not always required as many of our partner institutions now teach in English. Students are able to study in Finland, Sweden, Korea, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Hong Kong, Estonia and Japan IN ENGLISH!

Please email if you have any questions!
