International Languages – Mandarin AQ Class Graduation Ceremony
On June 8, 2013 CI celebrated the International Languages – Mandarin Additional Qualification Class Graduation Ceremony at International Centre.
The Mandarin AQ Class was the first class for teachers of Chinese as a Subsequent Language at Brock University. It was also the only Mandarin AQ program in Ontario. AQ course in teaching Chinese was prepared by CI in coorperation with Brock's Centre for Continuing Education and credited by the Ontario College of Teachers.
Fiona Blaikie, Dean of Faculty of Education, gave a speech to welcome the attended guests and Congratulate students.
Cheng Luo, the Co-Director of Confucius Institute, announced the letter of congratulations from Fang Jun, the Chinese Education Counsellor at Consulate General of People's Republic of China in Toronto.
Fang Jun stated that AQ course's "success will actively promote Chinese teaching and learning in Ontario and play an active role in Sino-Canadian Educational Exchanges." He highly praised the effort CI had made and the high level of professionalism and academic excellence of CI and the Centre of Continuing Education had shown in running this program.
Yuming Xu, the Instructor of AQ course expressed her delight in teaching. Chunlei Lu, Co-Director of Confucius Institute and also the student representative of AQ course addressed the importance of AQ course for Brock and Canada. Kathy Xiang, Executive Director of Confucius Institute from Seneca College also expressed her honor of attending the ceremony and also seeking for further cooperation between CIs in Canada.
At last, Certificates and gifts were presented to the graduates by Dr. Cheng Luo.
