Employment rate high for Brock graduates
97 per cent employed within two years of graduation
"Brock graduates have one of the highest employment
rates of any Ontario university," states Brock President
David Atkinson. "Fully, 97 per cent are working after
graduation." This is exceptional news, not only for our
graduates, but for current and future Brock students.
These figures clearly show that a university education
leads to employment and that Brock is on the right track."
The results of the survey support Brock's recently released
plan for the future with its thrust to place a greater
emphasis on career development programs that prepare
students for the world of work.
Graduation rates place Brock University fifth among Ontario
universities at 77.0 per cent. The Faculty of Education graduation
rate is second in the province at 99.4 per cent. The Ministry of
Education and Training has calculated graduation rates using a
single entering cohort of students and determining whether or not
they graduated within seven years.
Brock's Ontario student loan default rate of 12.5 per cent compares
with the university system average of 12.3 per cent. The 1998 default
rates reflect the repayment status of students who were issued Ontario
Student Loans in the 1995-96 academic year and completed or exited
their studies. An Ontario Student Loan is in default when the Ontario
government has paid a bank's claim for an inactive loan i.e. when no
payments were made for at least 90 days.
To maintain adequate confidentiality in light of the Freedom of
Information and Protection of Privacy Act, information has not
been shown in instances where the number of students is four or less.
