Procedure for obtaining an override for a VISA course:
VISA Majors:
Visual Arts majors requesting and course overrides and course information are to email Monika Lederich at mlederich@brocku.ca with their student ID number, the course(s) and section # that they wish overrides for. When the override is processed the student will be notified by email.
Concurrent Education Students And Non-Visa Majors:
Concurrent Education students and all von-VISA Majors must email the Visual Arts academic advisor, Alisa Cunnington with their student ID number, the course(s) they want, the sections they prefer (if applicable) and a short description of why they want to take the course. Students are then prioritized based on their program of study, year of study (those closest to graduation of course are the highest priority), and reason for wanting the course. ADMISSIONS INFORMATION
If you are applying to the Visual Arts Program directly from high school, you will be accepted based on your grade-point-average, a portfolio assessment is not required.
As a transfer student or change of major, admission to the Visual Arts program requires a portfolio assessment. You must make an appointment with the Chair of Visual Arts for a portfolio interview. A typical portfolio consists of 6 - 12 works in a range of media. The portfolio must contain examples of work done from direct observation and for that we recommend life drawing example(s) or a self-portrait. To arrange a portfolio appointment, please email mlederich@brocku.ca or call 905-688-5550 ext. 3214.
For more information to major in Visual Arts, course selections or transfer credits you should speak with the Humanities Academic Advisor for Visual Arts, Alisa Cunnington email: acunning@brocku.ca or call 905-688-5550, extension is 5279.
