Corrado Federici, Ph.D., Professor of Italian

Corrado Federici has taught courses in Italian language, literature, culture, and translation, as well as a comparative Renaissance literature course, and courses in the Great Books/Liberal Studies program. His research interests include modern critical theory, translation theory, modern Italian novel and poetry, as well as art history. His book publications are translations from the original Italian and include works on art (The Restoration of the Last Judgement, 1999, and Titian, 2001), aesthetics (The Power of Communication. Essays on Adespotic Aesthetics, 2000) and poetry (Italian Women Poets, an Anthology, 2002). He has also co-edited a volume of essays based on the inaugural Image and Imagery Conference held in 2000 titled Literary Texts and the Arts: Interdisciplinary Perspectives (2002). His book chapter publications, journal articles, and reviews deal with such twentieth-century writers as Umberto Eco, Italo Svevo, Luigi Pirandello, Eugenio Montale, Camillo Sbarbaro, and Giorgio Bassani. Several of the papers he has given have dealt with the relationship between paintings and literary works.
