Research Areas
Much of her research is devoted to comparative crossover literature and her most recent book is Crossover Fiction: Global and Historical Perspectives (Routledge, 2009). She has also published extensively on children’s literature and picturebooks, including De grands romanciers écrivent pour les enfants, Beyond Babar: The European Tradition in Children’s Literature; Transcending Boundaries: Writing for a Dual Audience of Children and Adults; and Reflections of Change: Children’s Literature Since 1945 . Her research on contemporary retellings of fairy tales has produced two books on “Little Red Riding Hood,” titled Recycling Red Riding Hood and Red Riding Hood for All Ages: A Fairy-Tale Icon in Cross-Cultural Contexts. She has published on contemporary French fiction, including three books on Henri Bosco. Other research areas include women’s writing, intertextuality, narratology, and the theory and poetics of children’s literature. She is currently completing an anthology of retellings of “Little Red Riding Hood,” as well as a book on Crossover Picturebooks for Routledge.
