Dr. Robert C. Nunn retired from his career as a university professor in 2000. His first teaching position was at Mount Allison University, from 1967 to 1969. He taught at Brock University from 1970 to 2000; first in the Department of English, and from 1972 on, in the Department of Drama, which subsequently went through many name changes. Although his doctoral thesis was on the novels of Charles Dickens, his research and publication was devoted to contemporary Canadian drama and playwrights. Several of his essays have been anthologized. A collection of essays on the works of the playwright Drew Hayden Taylor, which he edited, was published by Guernica Editions in 2008. In retirement he works as a volunteer with the Niagara Regional Literacy Council, AIDS Niagara, and the Bruce Trail Association.

At the 2014 annual conference of the Canadian Association for Theatre Research / Association Canadianne pour la Recherche Théâtrale Dr. Nunn was awarded Honorary Membership for his outstanding contribution to Canadian theatre research.
