The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Development, the Associate Director, Annual & Reunion Giving is responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive, strategic, integrated effort that will increase alumni donors, as well as friends, faculty, staff, and parents, giving to the Annual Fund, positioning Brock’s Annual Giving Program to become among the leading Canadian University programs and comparing favourably against programs of peer institutions worldwide. The incumbent will provide focused strategic leadership in the creation of concepts, marketing strategies, business process planning, and establishing targets, outcomes and tactical methods of program delivery, organization implementation and donor stewardship.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Working with the Director, Development, and other members of the Advancement team to create and implement a robust strategy to increase annual participation and giving to the Annual & Reunion Funds and developing a multi-year strategic plan
• Assessing current programs and strategies; recommending and advising the Development team and associated parties on appropriate strategies and tactics
• Developing multi-year measurements of annual giving performance; presenting reports on Annual & Reunion giving performance, metrics, and statistics
• Serving as a creative voice for Annual Giving & Reunion initiatives and working closely with the University’s communications specialist to “brand” Annual & Reunion Giving in a way that captures the attention and motivates financial participation
• Implementing a strategic communications and social media plan, to effectively communicate the need for annual & reunion fundraising
• Conducting regular, thorough assessment of Annual Giving, and Annual & Reunion Fund performance through detailed, statistical analysis of the donor pool as it relates to the annual giving goals and benchmarks
• Developing and implementing processes for identifying and resolving data and system problems and anomalies
• Managing a portfolio of Leadership gift prospects

The ideal candidate will have:
• Relevant University degree (e.g. Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and fundraising experience
• 8 -10 years of progressive management experience and will be a self-motivated, innovative leader
• Demonstrated experience and proven results in donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
• Proven track record of annual and reunion giving fundraising success and the demonstrated ability to lead an annual giving fundraising team
• Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices associated with annual giving fundraising in higher education including direct mail, telephone solicitations, online giving, e-giving, and giving tied to social networking platforms
• Excellent project management, prioritization and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple on-going projects
• Strong computer and analytical skills are required; competency with word-processing and spreadsheet applications, fundraising and prospect management databases and Internet skills
• Strong presentation skills and highly developed written and oral communication skills
• Proven ability to motivate, coach, mentor and encourage individuals
• Highly demonstrated professional judgement, tact, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated understanding of financial information and decisions
• Strong analytical, research, interpretative, and evaluation skills
• Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation (an asset)
