Reporting to the Director, the Institutional Analyst will support the collection, analysis and reporting of data from surveys and other resources to support the University’s continuous improvement efforts in all areas including academic, administrative and student services. The incumbent will facilitate the interpretation of research findings to support quality assurance and improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Providing expertise and support to the internal institutional survey process by coordinating internal institutional survey development, including researching and developing appropriate questions; coordinating data collection and liaising with internal stakeholders to ensure successful survey administration and data collection; providing analysis and interpretation of data; developing reports and present survey results to various internal and external stakeholders
• Collecting, analyzing and providing data to support academic reviews, accountability, quality assurance and improvement
• Disseminating statistical reports and information, and ensuring information is provided in a timely and accurate manner
• Facilitating understanding and interpretation of survey results by presenting the results to the division/department/faculty and ensuring clarification is provided as required
• Liaising with External Survey vendors to provide institutional information as requested
• Conducting institutional, faculty and program level performance analysis on external surveys and facilitating interpretation of data and survey results for department/division understanding
• Serving as a resource to internal Survey Committees
• Developing, measuring and reporting institutional performance measures and indicators, and making recommendations to enhance the availability, reliability and credibility of internal performance data
• Conducting research on labour market needs and trends for various programs to support and/or validate the needs for specific new program requests
• Providing support, coordination and workflow direction to part-time Research Assistants
The ideal candidate will have:
• An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. social sciences, mathematics, economics, finance, business, etc.), plus post graduate courses and/or degree in a related field
• A few years of relevant experience in quantitative analysis in post-secondary educational or public sector environments, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience in financial or statistical analysis, economics, and/or public policy
• Demonstrated and applied knowledge of statistics, relational databases and data collection
• Strong computer proficiency in collecting, sorting and reporting financial and statistical information, and utilizing various databases and surveying tools and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Excellent writing and presentation skills, and the ability to present reports and analytical information
• Strong organizational abilities, including the ability to set priorities and manage a high volume of work with competing demands
• Demonstrated ability to generate reports, graphs and analytical information, and translate to various stakeholders
• Demonstrated and advanced analytical, problem solving skills and ability to set priorities
• Creativity and demonstrated initiative in data collection and analysis
• Ability to stay abreast of emerging and new analytical developments in the field of institutional research, including trends and techniques
• Extensive experiences in using statistical software, such as SPSS, an asset
