Student Communication Skills Co-ordinator

Reporting to the Director of Graduate Programs, the Student Communication Skills Co­ordinator is responsible for developing a cohesive communications support curriculum for each of our five graduate and two pre-graduate programs. The Co-ordinator will engage faculty, staff, students and other stakeholders to maximize the benefit of existing support mechanisms and identify, develop and explore new initiatives that will serve to set our graduate and pre-graduate programs apart from our competitors nationally and internationally.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supporting the School’s communications-related Assurance of Learning (AOL) AACSB goals
• Developing, coordinating and assisting in the delivery of relevant language and communication support for all of the graduate and pre-graduate programs
• Providing academic and administrative oversight of summer business English program for IMAcc and MBA ISP students and PMPC 6P10, 6P11, 6P12, 6P13 and 6P15 courses
• Serving as the primary resource for the Goodman School of Business Assurance of Learning (AOL) Committee in support of our AACSB accreditation
• Creating and delivering non-credit academic writing workshops for all Master of Science in Management students
• Establishing, marketing and servicing a proof-reading program for student use
• Regularly reviewing need for pronunciation/accent modification programming and co­ordinating development of appropriate co-curricular workshops.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Masters degree in communications or related field
• TESL Ontario certification or equivalent certification/teaching experience from outside of Ontario
• 6 – 10 years of experience as a communications instructor at the post-secondary level
• Demonstrated experience delivering business-specific communications support
• Proven ability in a communications curriculum development role
• Demonstrated ability acting as a formal mentor and/or supervisor to other instructors
• Expertise and success in helping post-secondary students improve their communication abilities
• Understanding of the communications needs of graduate students and how to modify/develop a curriculum of various initiatives to meet those needs
• Creativity in problem solving and communication initiative development
