Academic Advisor/Liaison Officer
Faculty of Mathematics and Science

Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science, the Academic Advisor/Liaison Officer will be responsible for assisting with the academic advising of current and prospective students on program requirements and services within the Faculty of Mathematics and Science, and will assist academic units with Academic Program Review requirements and recruiting and promotion activities. As a Liaison Officer, the incumbent will also be part of the team responsible for the Faculty’s undergraduate recruitment activities. Other key responsibilities include: reviewing student program planning including course selection and program/department requirements; responding to inquiries; managing, advising, opening and tracking appointments, student requests and inquiries; representing the Faculty at schools and events on campus and throughout Canada which may include travel (primarily September through December) resulting in irregular working hours; liaising as necessary with a variety of stakeholders; implementing public relations activities for the Faculty; participating in the periodic review of Faculty publications and brochures; and undertaking special projects as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess:
• An Honours university degree in the Sciences;
• Exemplary written and oral communication and interpersonal skills;
• Excellent listening and interviewing skills;
• Polished presentation skills;
• Creative problem solving abilities;
• Excellent organizational skills;
• Demonstrated public relations and marketing skills;
• Strong computer skills;
• Proven project leadership skills ;
• Experience in recruitment and advising is an asset;
• Familiarity with post-secondary curricula in the sciences is an asset.
