Junior Research Officer/Grant Facilitator

Reporting to the Manager, Office of Research Services, the Junior Research Officers/Grant Facilitator is responsible for facilitating the growth of research at Brock and ensuring that the research complies with federal and provincial laws, regulations, policies and guidelines and university and agency rules, policies, regulations and ethical standards. The Junior Research Officer will assist the Manager and Research Officers in facilitating both research grants and contracts from pre-proposal to post compliance to ensure they move efficiently through the process.
The Junior Research Officer will assist with large institutional grants, internal award programs, and applications for research awards and prizes. The incumbent will acquire knowledge of the funding agencies that Brock works with. Specifically the support will include the following: assisting faculty members in all aspects of grants and contracts from ideas through application to project completion; including budget development, maintaining records of research proposals, awards, and other relevant information; organizing and running of workshops and seminars that give faculty, students and staff the skills to enhance their chances to obtain research funding; assisting in the organization and administration of various internal peer-reviewed research competitions; all other related duties as required and assigned by the Manager, Research Services.
University Degree with 2-5 years of experience working in a university research setting (graduate degree is preferred)
Excellent writing and editing skills
Financial planning and strong budgetary experience; project management skills
Excellent learning, comprehension, organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to coach, mentor and inform faculty on the research funding process
Organizational and scheduling skills
Excels in working in a team environment
Knowledge of grant development and writing processes
Strong computer skills, including competency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Knowledge of database systems and webpage maintenance would be an asset
Ability to work in both official languages would be an asset
