Reporting to the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs, the Student Engagement Co­ordinator will develop, promote, and direct Faculty of Business (FOB) clubs and organizations to ensure a balanced educational and social environment for a diverse student population of 2,700 students. Responsibilities will include student mentoring; providing guidance and assistance to staff and faculty with regards to student groups; continually developing a community for student outreach and recruitment activities that expand educational opportunities for all FOB students; acting as lead contact for student involvement from recruitment to graduation; and facilitating the student transition from post-secondary life, with the intent to build long lasting ties to Brock and specifically the FOB. This will include managing the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of student-led programs and activities; responding to all inquiries with regards to extra-curricular events and approval of events; assisting with student budgets and completing financial statements; coordinating bookings for FOB student clubs; coordinating and mentoring student competitions and program activities; developing publications, messaging, press releases and web updates in collaboration with various University colleagues and departments; designing and facilitating leadership workshops and retreats for student clubs; fostering connections with community groups and high schools; developing and maintaining a “class giving” model to further fund student initiatives; building and fostering transition programs; and developing and guiding student clubs through the external sponsorship process while cultivating and maintaining partnerships.

The successful candidate will possess an undergraduate degree (preferably in Business), combined with related experience, knowledge and understanding of recruitment activities and standard marketplace practices and human behavior, and demonstrated ability to facilitate/mentor/ teach/coach. Familiarity working in a university, college or similar environment is preferred, as well as an understanding of how student groups are organized and maintained. You possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships and collaboration with partnering departments, and professional public speaking ability. You bring excellent organization, prioritization and time management skills; demonstrated ability to work independently; ability to exercise judgment and meet deadlines; effective problem solving skills; flexibility and adaptability; and advanced computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, database applications, email and web. A valid Ontario driver’s license is required for some off-campus events. You must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings as required to attend student events or functions.
