Job Summary

Youth University is a not-for-profit service dedicated to helping children meet their greatest potential—socially, emotionally, and educationally. As such, all programs, projects and initiatives are designed to be meaningful, engaging, active and fun while fostering confidence through individual attention in a supportive, caring, and inclusive community. Reaching more than 8,000 participants, Youth University programs include outreach projects with under-represented and vulnerable youth; day field trips for elementary, high school, and community groups year-round; residential field trips for grades 5-8 during May and June; and individual youth enrichment programs throughout the school year and summer.

Reporting to the Director of Youth University, the Program Manager-Enrichment is responsible for all facets of the design, administration, budgeting, promotion and implementation of Summer Enrichment, High School Leadership, March Break and other programs for youth aged 8-18. Creative and resourceful in program design and development, you will demonstrate strong leadership abilities in training and managing student staff while directing all enrichment programming initiatives and activities, including program evaluation. Enthusiastic and self-motived, you will oversee all program marketing/promotions and public relations functions including print, web, and social media. Additional responsibilities will include conducting needs assessments; managing contracts and program documentation; administrating program budgets; preparing related reports and grant proposals; ensuring relevant safety standards are met; and collaborating with campus resources and other University staff responsible for school-based programs and outreach.

The successful candidate will possess a related University degree (graduate degree or Ontario teaching certification preferred) together with previous experience teaching or facilitating and program development, management and evaluation, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of learning theory and an interest in alternative and progressive methods of education is required. Intrinsically, you possess a sense of fun and an adventurous spirit with a love of helping children learn. Your well-honed problem-solving and multi-tasking skills provide you with the ability to function in a high volume and fast paced environment focusing on excellent customer service. Strong computer skills are essential. Experience with special populations, high ropes course, and knowledge of experiential education would be considered assets.
