Reporting to the Director, Internal Audit, you will lead and manage Internal Audit engagements, oversee additional Internal Audit resources, provide leadership in the development of the University’s Enterprise Risk Management and compliance management functions, and support the evolution of Internal Audit methodologies and approaches. Responsibilities will include executing audits, reviews, engagements and projects; conducting interviews and fieldwork/testing, and reporting results, observations and recommendations; preparing Audit Committee reporting and presentations; tracking and performing follow-up on identified risk and control issues and gaps; and assessing and strengthening approaches to internal auditing on a continual basis. In addition, you will provide consulting, project management and advisory services to various University departments and units as needed.
The successful candidate will possess a university degree(s) and a recognized accounting or auditing designation (a CA, CMA, CGA, CIA or equivalent), along with a broad range (minimum 5 years) of progressive internal auditing, external auditing, and/or risk management experience, preferably in the public sector, or an equivalent combination of relevant education/certification and experience. Preference will be given to candidates with Internal Audit and IT Auditing certifications, such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). A conceptual thinker with demonstrated success as a facilitator and motivator, you bring strategic planning skills; initiative; superior interpersonal and communications skills; effective interview skills; strong analytical and problem solving skills; and a high degree of discretion, judgment, integrity, sensitivity, tact and diplomacy. You are also an advanced user of PC tools and applications including flow charting, statistical sampling, worksheet and database packages.
