Reporting to the Director, Faculty and Employee Relations and as a member of Labour Leadership Team, the Manager, Labour and Employee Relations is responsible for providing constructive and ethical labour and employee relations leadership and advice with respect to assigned areas of responsibility. This includes providing professional support to immediate supervisors for the administration of University Collective Agreements, including acting as Chief Negotiator for collective bargaining, handling of the grievance and arbitration procedures, and the provision of learned advice on Collective Agreement interpretation and application. The incumbent will provide value-added contributions in the advancement and implementation of the Human Resources and Environment, Health & Safety Strategic action plan. Responsibilities will also include leading and/or conducting investigations stemming from the application of Collective Agreements and University’s relevant policies.
The successful candidate must have a relevant university degree (MBA or MIR preferred) and CHRP designation with a minimum of 10 years experience (5 years as a Chief Negotiator) in a multi-union complex educational or related environment. Your presentation and training experience is complemented with expertise in facilitation, grievance resolution, mediation and arbitration processes. Your success includes strong people management, relationship building and communication skills.
