• Hours of Work: Eight weeks, 25 hours per week teaching plus regular office hours
• English for Academic Purposes Instructor
• LING 5N01 (non-credit)
Working under the guidance of the Graduate Program Director, Applied Linguistics, the English for Academic Purposes Instructor teaches in the Summer Bridging Program and is responsible for lesson preparation, testing, grading, marking and reporting. The successful applicant will need to be available for consultation with the Graduate Program Director prior to the course start and will also be required to write both formative and summative reports of student performance on the course.
Qualifications include an MA in Applied Linguistics/TESL (or equivalent) with a TESL Certificate that meets the TESL Ontario criteria. Well-qualified applicants who will have completed their MA before the course begins may be considered. Familiarity with the theory and practice of Teaching English as a Subsequent Language (TESL) is essential as are strong writing and oral communication skills. Documented course work in academic writing and previous English for Academic Purposes teaching experience in Canada are preferred.
Compensation for this position is $11,500 for the term of the assignment.
