The Department of Mathematics at Brock University invites applications for two 6-month Instructional Limited-Term Appointments. The positions available are for the period July 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013, and January 1, 2014 to June 30, 2014. Interested applicants are welcome to apply for one or both positions. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.
Both Instructional Limited Term Appointments will be required to teach up to four half-credit courses. The courses may include Math 1P12, Math 1P98, Math 2P03, and Math 2P12; and, Math 1P05, 1P97, 2P04, and 2P08 respectively. Math 1P97 and 1P98 are large calculus/statistics service courses for non-math majors.
Applicants must have a PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field with a strong background in regard to the courses listed above. Applicants must have demonstrated successful teaching experience in first and second year university courses. Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential for the successful candidate to interact with students, teaching staff and faculty. The ideal candidate will have successful experience teaching large lectures and an understanding of the issues unique to first year students. The ability to work in a team environment is also necessary for the teaching of these courses.
Review of applications will commence on March 22nd and continue until the position is filled. Applicants should submit a letter of application along with a curriculum vitae, teaching evaluations, at least one letter of reference addressing teaching and evidence of the ability to teach the courses listed above.
