The Facilities Management of Brock University invites applications to the following temporary casual vacancies:

GROUNDSKEEPER
FACILITIES MANAGEMENT


Reporting to the Grounds Manager, duties will include: shovelling snow; spreading sand, salt and ice melt products by hand; lifting and carrying up to 50 lb. bags of ice melt; picking up litter; lifting and emptying garbage; sweeping; raking; digging; walking up and down stairs and on uneven and/or slippery surfaces. The Groundskeeper will be required to work outside in all weather conditions, temperatures, wind, rain, snow, sleet, and cold.

This position is available for approximately nineteen (19) weeks from December 10, 2012 to April 19, 2013. Scheduled hours of work will vary and will include evenings and weekends (must be available for additional call-in). Please note that call-ins may occur if full-time grounds staff are not available. The current salary rate is $20.51 per hour. This position is included in the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 1295.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will:
• Be able to meet the physical requirements of the job on a regular and repetitive basis, in addition to carrying up to 50 lbs and spreading ice melt.
• Possess a valid Class “G” driver’s licence with an excellent driver’s record
• Demonstrated ability to be punctual and regular in attendance at work
