The Facilities Management Department of Brock University invites applications to the following permanent full-time position:
Reporting to the Manager of Electrical Services (with the nature and priority of duties also informed by input from the Manager of Mechanical Services and the Manager of Structural Services) you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks supporting facility operations in more than one discipline i.e. Electrical, Mechanical or Structural Services. With a main focus on electrical and a secondary focus on mechanical, duties will primarily include performing routine maintenance such as changing light bulbs and lamps for light fixtures. Additional duties will include changing filters or other consumable parts on various building systems; cleaning small equipment; assisting other trades/staff on performing routine maintenance; performing routine inspections on equipment; maintaining documentation in manual logs and computerized Facility Management systems; and performing other minor maintenance as assigned.
Qualifications include related experience doing maintenance, technical, manual or construction work. Good physical fitness for extensive walking, bending, lifting and climbing of ladders and stairs is required. Your experience and background has provided you with a good understanding of safety work requirements (e.g. Zero Energy). The successful candidate must have demonstrated both strong customer service skills and the ability to be punctual and regular in attendance at work. A valid Class G driver’s license is required. You possess excellent interpersonal skills and are capable of successfully working in a team environment, with the ability to also work independently. Some experience using computers would be an asset.
This position will work primarily day shift (some afternoon shifts may be required to complete special projects), 40 hours per week. The current salary range (effective May 1, 2012) is $23.64 to $24.27 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
