The Facilities Management Department of Brock University invites applications to the above two (2) permanent full-time positions.
Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, as a member of the Facilities Management team you will be responsible for working on all aspects of the University’s mechanical equipment including scheduled maintenance, new construction and emergency response. Duties include: operating and maintaining various building systems including HVAC systems, BAS, air compressors, chillers, water treatment systems, heating/cooling systems, pumps and pumping systems, gas-fired equipment and low-pressure steam boilers, building exhaust and fume hoods; inspecting, testing and verifying fire suppression and emergency systems; inspecting and monitoring plumbing systems; and assisting other Facilities Management staff or contracted trades on mechanical related items.
Qualifications include a Facilities Technician trade certificate 255B, or equivalent, together with a minimum of 5 years related experience in a varied industrial or institutional environment. A valid Class G driver’s license is required. Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, Gas Fitter (G1), Refrigeration and A/C Systems Mechanic and 3rd or 4th Class Operating Engineer Tickets are considered assets. The successful candidate must have demonstrated both strong customer service skills and the ability to be punctual and regular in attendance at work. You possess excellent interpersonal skills and are capable of successfully working in a team environment, with the ability to also work independently. Good knowledge of PC-based software systems such as CAD, MS-Office suite, BAS, and other related software is beneficial.
This position will work primarily day and/or afternoon shifts, 40 hours per week, while providing on-call emergency services as required. The current salary range (effective May 1, 2011) is $29.02 to $30.97 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
