CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2009 FALL TERM BURSARY WINNERS
GSA Bursaries were awarded to Melissa Page and Nicholas Vesprini
The Fidelis Anatute Kambilige Bursary was awarded to Zhang Jing (Mia)
GSA Conference Funding Assistance was awarded to Mirjana Bajovic, Patti Waters, Georgann Watson and Brandon Djukic for their presentations at recent conferences.
The Ralph D. Morris Award will be presented to Ted Soepboer.

PLEASE SUPPORT HAITI FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
The Brock community will be running many fund-raising events to aid the Canadian Red Cross in support of earthquake ravaged Haiti in the coming weeks.  Donation boxes will be located in many food service areas around the campus for your change donations.  A book of condolences will be open in the Rita Welch Meditation Centre from 9 am to 4 pm daily.   Candy Grams are being sold throughout residence and in the DeCew Cafeteria from 5-7 pm everyday this week.  A Coffee House is being held this Saturday, Feb 13 from 7-10 pm in Captain John's Lounge in DeCew Residence.  Sign-up at service desk - $2.00 donation appreciated - open to all students.  Mr. Jim Turnbull, Superior Court Judge of Ontario, will be speaking about his involvement with Haiti on Thursday, February 11, 2010, 7:00 - 9:00 pm in TH256.  He has over 20 years experience helping in Haiti through "Joy and Hope of Haiti" - please mark on your calendar so you don't miss it.  There will be a benefit concert "Niagara for Haiti" on Feb. 16/10 at Red Hot Chili Pepper downtown, starting at 7:00 pm.  There will be 3 stages with bands playing all night for a small donation of $5.00, with all proceeds to the Haiti Relief.  Further details can be found at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=299641534918&ref=ts.  To donate directly to the Brock Campaign fund visit www.redcross.ca/brocku - the total raised to date by Brock is over $14,500 and we hope to reach $15,000, or $30,000 when matched by the federal government.

SELF DEFENSE COURSE
Looking for an exciting evening!  Plan to attend the Self Defense Workshop for Grad Students being held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 6-8 pm in ST105 (Basement of Tower).  Bob Toth of St. Catharines Martial Arts Centre will be teaching basic self defense concepts and techniques.  It is open to all, and no previous experience is required.  Please sign up in the GSA office (MCD 350A), or email us at gsaoffice@brocku.ca if you want to attend, so that we can provide the needed equipment for everyone.  Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to have some fun.

"CROSSING BORDERS" STUDENT CONFERENCE MARCH 25 -26, 2010
"Crossing Borders" is an annual bi-national conference with the intent to develop academic relations between students throughout the cross-border region.  This multi-disciplinary conference is encouraged for 4th year and graduate students.  The conference is being hosted by the University of Buffalo on March 25 -26th, 2010 at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre.  Group projects or panels are most welcome, and poster sessions will also be considered.  Please visit http://www.crossingborders.buffalo.edu/ for further information on the conference, and topics and deadlines for papers.  This year Crossing Borders will be held in conjunction with the annual conference of the Binational Tourism Alliance (BTA), which brings together individuals from hospitality, tourism and economic development communities in Canada and the U.S.

U-PASS

The U-Pass will be distributed by BUSU. 
Passes are available at the BUSU office in the student alumni centre. 
Students will only be issued a U-Pass if they have been charged the U-Pass fee.
