Graduate Mentorship Awards
The Faculty of Graduate Studies Graduate Mentorship Awards at Brock University will be sponsored annually to recognize exceptional mentorship of graduate students by a core faculty member in one or more of Brock’s graduate programs.
2013 Call for Nominations is closed
See Criteria and Nomination Package
Established in 2011, the awards honour and recognize the essential role of mentorship in graduate education by graduate faculty supervisors in two categories:
- mentorship of master’s students only
- mentorship of both master’s and PhD students
Nominations are to come from graduate students. It is an opportunity for graduate students to pay tribute to an individual graduate faculty member who has provided them with outstanding support and encouragement in their development as a graduate student researcher.
The awards will be presented annually at the Mapping the New Knowledges Graduate Research Conference, or (in the event that the April conference event is not held in a given year) at the Awards and Donor Recognition event held each spring.
The awards will be adjudicated by the Senate Graduate Studies Sub-Committee on Awards; two graduate students, selected by the Graduate Students Association, drawn from two different Faculties will join this committee for the adjudication of this particular award. (The students will not have contributed letters to any of the nomination packages in the current competition.)
Value: Recipients in each category will be awarded $1,000 to assist with ongoing graduate student mentorship
