2014 Call for Proposals — Mapping the New Knowledges Conference


Ninth annual Graduate Student Research Conference
Monday, April 7, 2014
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Plaza Building and Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research Centre

Call for Proposals  —  Closed
Deadline: Friday, Feb. 21

Plan to be part of the ninth annual celebration of graduate student research and scholarship. 

• Give an oral presentation — Guidelines
The oral research panels are organized into general themes and run concurrently during the morning and afternoon. Each panel involves four to five student presentations. Submission requires 200-word abstract written for a non-specialist audience.
(PLEASE NOTE: We will do our best to accommodate any students who wish to present as a panel on a specific theme. Each panel will require four individual research presentations that tie into an overall theme. Students who would like to consider presenting as a panel are asked to contact Mike Plyley (mplyley@brocku.ca), program chair of the conference, with their ideas prior to submitting proposals.

• Display a poster — Guidelines
The poster session is typically held over the lunch break and poster presenters are required to be available at that time to discuss their research projects with audience members. Submission requires 200-word abstract written for a non-specialist audience.

Part I: From Paper to Poster: THE TEXT 
Tuesday, March 4, 11 a.m. to 12 noon, Classroom B (ST 230 - located on the main floor of the James A. Gibson Library)
Part 2: From Paper to Poster: THE DESIGN 
Thursday, March 6, 3 to 4 p.m., Classroom A (ST 228 - located on the main floor of the James A. Gibson Library)
The workshops are offered by the Academic-Zone Learning Services and the Faculty of Graduate Studies
 

Youth University prizes
Youth University will offer a research prize for oral and poster presentations on topics pertaining to child and adolescent research at the conference. Conference participants must identify their desire to be adjudicated for the prizes when submitting their conference Call for Proposals. Judging will take place the day of the conference. Each award has a value of $200.
