Supporting graduate students

Brock University is a place where promising young scholars and researchers are following their passion for knowledge and discovery. You’re familiar with the life of a graduate student. You know the time and commitment that is needed to complete a graduate degree.

Our graduate students want to make a difference and your support will help them as they look to find new ideas, answers, solutions and processes that will better our lives in many ways.

You can help by donating to internal graduate scholarships. We’ve list some options below.

How to give — now or in the future

Some examples of opportunities to support graduate students

Internal scholarships

You can help us build our awards by donating to one of the many internal awards that are presented each year to students from the 44 graduate programs at Brock. Included in that list is the prestigious Jack M. Miller Excellence in Research Award that is featured in the current Brock Family Campaign.

Or, you may be in a position to consider creating a new award that matches your interests.

Matching opportunities

The following external scholarships provide matching funds.

Two to one match — For every dollar that you give, the province will contribute two dollars

• Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS): This program is designed to encourage excellence at the master’s and doctoral levels. An OGS is awarded for one academic year; the student receives $10,000 for two consecutive terms or $15,000 for three consecutive terms.  The province contributes two-thirds while, each year, generous donations assist the University in raising its required contribution of one-third.

Ontario Graduate Scholarships in Science and Technology (OGSST): The maximum value of this award is $15,000, or $5,000 per term. The province awards two-thirds (to a maximum of $10,000 annually or $3,333 per term) to an individual student. The University awards the remaining one-third (to a maximum of $5,000 annually or $2,667 per term) through private-sector fundraising.

One to one match — Your contribution will be equally matched.

Matching corporate programs: As a measure of good corporate citizenship, many companies have programs where they match employee gifts to registered charities. Please check with your company to see if such an opportunity is available.
