Prom Project Niagara is a venture straight out of the Education Foundation Niagara, which works to create a more enhanced curriculum for the District School Board of Niagara. They do this through charitable endeavors such as Prom Project. The Education Foundation will be working with Brock University’s Student Life and Community Experience Department once again to collect items for the Prom Project. Over the past few years of partnership, Prom Project has made a difference in countless lives. We hope to expand our past turnouts and numbers in hopes of enlightening more special occasions.
Prom Project collects gently used formal attire. The list of items range from female and male shoes, dresses, suit jackets, dress pants and dress shirts, jewelry, and more. We accept anything you believe would make a special occasion all the more fantastic and elegantly spectacular. The students come and pick whatever they would like for their special occasion, free of charge. Prom Project Niagara is accepting donations from February 25 to April 24th. You can drop off your attire at Brock University in the Student Leadership and Innovation Commons located in Mackenzie Chown A Block 204.
You might be thinking why should I help? The answer is simple. If there has ever been a moment in your life where someone has lent a helpful hand to you, you will realize that doing something as little as donating a necklace or tie to this project will brighten someone’s special night. A wise girl once said “I have this system where if I buy three or four new things, I give away three or four things. Sometimes, it’s a very painful system, but shopping is even better when you know that someone else who needs it will be getting. Keep the clothing karma going, I say”-Sara Blakely. What better way to get rid of a non-fitting or old piece of formal attire then to pass it on to a deserving young student thirsty to begin their adult journey based on the good once given to them? Donate to Prom Project Niagara to contribute to your community because “the world doesn’t need another clothing company. But it does need a certain funk”-Andre Benjamin. So let’s diversify the extensive qualm of selling and let’s start giving.
