Teaching English (TESL)

  • Advanced students may be interested in the Linguistics and TESL programs in the Department of Applied Language Studies. That department offers TESL qualifications at the undergraduate, post-graduate certificate, and M.Ed. level. Details are available from the Chair, Department of Applied Language Studies.
  • As well as Canadian students, our program has prepared ESL teachers from Japan, China, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Italy, Brazil, the USA and Venezuela. Our graduates are working all over the world.
  • Students in the Linguistics and TESL courses get involved as conversation partners, monitors and tutors. This means that language students profit from the most modern teaching materials and effective methods, based on research in the Department.
