Applying multimodality in K-12 literacy learning and teaching; Adopting a multiliteracies perspective in teacher education and the teaching and learning of English language arts; Defining and inhabiting modal learning and digital and media epistemologies; Social inclusion through artifactual approaches to literacy development; Identity mediation during text production and reception; Bourdieusian sociology and its connections with learning and pedagogy; Geosemiotics, space theory, and networks of information (particularly in the domain of early childhood education); Connecting ethnography with multimodal research methods; Communities as ecologies and adopting an ecological approach to literacy fieldwork
