Alan Wheeler’s formal science teaching career began in 1964 in Alberta following graduation from the University of Alberta (BSc 1963; BEd 1964). Following a five-year science teaching assignment with CIDA (1967-72) in East Africa, he pursued graduate studies in Education (MEd 1972) followed by a PhD (1976) in Secondary Education. Following two sessional appointments at the University of Alberta, Dr. Wheeler accepted a faculty appointment at Brock University in 1977 where he held the rank of Full Professor in the Department of Graduate and Undergraduates Studies in Education until his retirement on December 31st, 2005 as Professor Emeritus, International and Comparative Education.
