The Chairs Message

Welcome to Graduate Studies!

On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Department of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies in the Faculty of Education, I would like to welcome you to our Master of Education program. We hope that you enjoy the graduate student experience, and that you find our program challenging, engaging, and empowering.

As a graduate student, you will ‘engage with the literature,’ through listening, reading, debating, presenting and researching. Through this program you will learn to effectively critique existing views on issues of importance in education, and develop a foundational understanding of educational research and topics relevant to your Field of Specialization. The professors in our Faculty offer expertise in a broad range of educational topics and you will find them approachable and knowledgeable.

The Master of Education Program Guide is intended to help you navigate the program. It includes information on the responsibilities of graduate students, and the obligations the university has to you. It also provides specific guidelines for completing your ‘exit project,’ whether it is the Culminating Seminar, Major Research Paper (MRP), or Thesis. The MEd Guide is not meant to be comprehensive. The graduate calendar is the authoritative resource for all rules and regulations regarding graduate programs at Brock University:

Again, welcome. We look forward to meeting and working with you on your learning journey.
