Leonard Bishop (BA '67)

The Faculty of Education is pleased to award Leonard Bishop, of Niagara Falls, the inaugural Faculty of Education Distinguished Alumni Award. Leonard holds an MSc in Education from Niagara University and graduated from Brock University with a BA in English in the first graduating class. This Silver Badger obtained his Teaching Certificate from the St. Catharines Teachers' College and has also completed Additional Qualifications courses at Brock.

Len is a retired Director of Education for Superior North Catholic District School Board where he played a key role in shaping the education of Catholic students across the province and in ensuring students in more remote, northerly communities have access to the best education.  Len served as Field Experience Coordinator and Faculty Advisor for the Department of Pre-service Teacher Education at Brock where he helped shape the future generation of teachers. Len's wife Leigh continues to serve as a Faculty Advisor, while his son and daughter-in-law continue the tradition of teaching within the Niagara Catholic District School Board, and his daughter works at Brock in the Department of Communication, Popular Culture and Film.
