Welcome!
The Rosalind Blauer Centre for Child Care
is a non-profit,
non-sectarian daycare centre located on the campus of St. Catharines'
Brock University. First established in 1971, the Centre serves the
children of the University's students, staff and faculty, as well as the
community-at-large.
Philosophy
The Rosalind Blauer Centre for Child Care
operates on the assumption that children are
eager and natural learners who require a safe yet stimulating
environment, occasional guidance and emotional support.
Staff
A Staff of professionals keeps the Rosalind Blauer Centre for Child Care
running
smoothly by working together as a team to see that the children's needs
are effectively met.
All direct care staff are trained early childhood educators.
Facility
In 1995, a state-of-the-art facility was built to house the Rosalind Blauer Centre for Child Care
program. Among other features, the Centre boasts a
discovery area for experiments and creative activities; a science loft;
child-scaled bathrooms adjacent to every classroom; a separate crib room
for infants, a fully functional kitchen, a conference room/parent
resource library and developmentally-appropriate playground structures
for each age group.
Curriculum
Based on the theory that children learn through play, classroom routines
encourage active involvement, meaningful experimentation and
reinforcement through repetition.
Volunteer Board of Directors
The Rosalind Blauer Centre for Child Care
is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors in which
parents and community members form the Board of Directors.
