Research Interests:
A specialist in the art, archaeology, and literature of Archaic Greece, Professor Greene has directed and participated in excavation and survey projects throughout the Mediterranean--in Turkey, Albania, Greece, and Egypt. In 2008, she began research on a seventh-century BCE shipwreck at Kekova Adası, Turkey carrying an international cargo of goods from the Cypro-Levantine coast, Ionian city centers, and Corinth (a SSHRC-funded project). Currently, she is responsible for the publication of the sixth-century BCE shipwreck at Pabuç Burnu, Turkey, and writing a book on shipwrecks and ancient trade. Her interests include the ancient economy, archaeological ethics, and how we can utilize the archaeological record to provide hard surfaces for symbolic readings of art and text.
